GOONHOUSE IS A LIFESTYLE BRAND INSPIRED BY EAST VANCOUVER
How a gross cat
INSPIRED OUR BRAND
When a mangy, dim-witted cat showed up in our backyard garden, we never imagined she'd become the inspiration for our logo.
We named her Punchie after her squished-in face.
We enjoyed her visits, but figured she was a frisky broad with no intention of being tamed. But each time she visited, Punchie looked a little more buckled than the last. In the end, we crammed her into a pet carrier and whisked her to the shelter.
The vet told us she was on the last of her nine lives. Yet after a week of intensive steroid treatments, Punchie made a miraculous recovery.
We were super stoked, and took the weirdo home to live with us at the GOONHOUSE.
But surprise—Punchie was not cut out to be a house cat. She crapped on the floor in protest, and jumped out windows every chance she could get. Eventually we gave up and let her roam free.
During one of her raucous adventures, she picked a fight with a bramble bush and lost. The fight cost her an eye, but marked her forever as a special being not long for this world.
Last summer we lost Punchie to a family of coyotes. We miss her and we hope she's happy to live on as our logo. We couldn't think of better mascot than the wild, half-wit of a force that was Punchie the one-eyed cat. R.I.P. goon.
